Who we are 

Tom Pridmore MA MTMI

Born in Devon, Tom originally trained in Countryside Management at Merrist Wood College and started his career with Dartmoor National Park Authority as one of the youngest National Park Rangers in the country at that time. After seven years he moved north to become the first Countryside Officer to be appointed by a Lancashire District Council. Over the next 20 years as his career developed, he also studied to achieve a Masters Degree in Leisure and Tourism Lancaster University and he was awarded 'the most promising tourism student in Lancashire' by the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board in 2006. 
Tom has achieved a wealth of experience working in the public sector, establishing many new leisure and cultural services as well as attracting significant inward investment. In addition to public sector experience Tom has also worked in the private sector in Leisure and Hospitality. In his role as Tourism consultant, both employed by Lancaster University and working independently, he delivered successful projects for a range of tourism enterprises across the North West of England. Tom is retained by David Bellamy Associates who, in conjunction with the British Holiday Home Park Association, manage an environmental awards scheme. As the awards assessor for the North West region he advises tourism businesses on all aspects of environmental management including biodiversity, energy efficiency, waste minimization and community engagement, along with target marketing to attract environmentally aware customers. 
An enthusiastic consultant, Tom Pridmore has practical experience of a range of leisure and cultural services, backed up with strong academic theory. Organized and innovative, with the ability to build positive relationships and think creatively, he has an outstanding track record of achievements across variety of award-winning leisure services and with a specific reputation for customer service, environmental management and tourism. Often described as quick thinking and resourceful under pressure, he has experience of leading people through challenge and organizational change. 
Professional Memberships
Tom was a founding executive committee member of the Tourism Management Institute and is currently their lead nationally on Continuing Professional Development and student liaison. He is also an active member of the Tourism Society and was a past regional Chair of the Countryside Management Association. 


Lydia Harper BA(Hons) MRTPI  

Specialism - Planning & Development Control

Lydia Harper is an accomplished planning professional. Educated in Town Planning at both Manchester (MA) and at Newcastle Universities (BA hons) she is a full member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

In addition to working as a planning consultant and managing a variety of successful planning applications for private clients, Lydia has a wide range of experience achieved working for Blackpool and Wyre local authorities where her work gave her a valuable insight into both rural and urban planning perspectives. Here she managed planning applications and other development control related responsibilities and obtained a sound understanding of preparing legal agreements and enforcement investigations.

Lydia is able to deliver successful outcomes from complex planning challenges and she is highly experienced in the whole skills set associated with planning appeals including preparing written representations and attending informal hearings, managing public inquiries including writing and presenting cases as an expert witness.

Lydia also has specialist knowledge in handling matters related to listed buildings and conservation areas.

Having experience of directly negotiating with developers, agents and consultants Lydia has developed excellent communication and presentation skills.


Joanna Beaman 

Specialism Countryside Management and Ecology

 
Jo is a dedicated countryside professional with 25 years’ experience of site management ranging from flagship urban parks to estuarine and coastal areas and public rights of way, gained whilst working with Macclesfield, Wyre and South Ribble local authorities.  
With a degree in Recreation and Countryside Management (Coventry) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Ecological Surveying Techniques (Oxford) Jo has a broad knowledge base covering habitat and species management, volunteer management, environmental education, partnership working, community involvement and funding applications.  
Jo has a Natural England class licence to survey the internationally protected Great Crested Newt and a general licence to survey small mammals.  She has also produced a number of Phase 1 Habitat Surveys, doing both the survey and desk based research and producing the final maps and document. 
As an Assessor for the David Bellamy Conservation Awards scheme, Jo has visited a number of caravan and holiday home parks across Lancashire, advising on conservation, interpretation and sustainability projects.   
A Beaver Scout Leader for more than 10 years, Jo has worked at Group, District and County level in West Lancs. and has a wealth of experience in event management, Leader Training and Practical Skills training.  




Colin Wolfendale

Specialism - Hospitality Management and customer experience

Qualified in hospitality management, and with 40 years’ experience working in both private and public sectors of the Industry, Colin Wolfendale is well placed to provide informed, professional support. His experience covers all aspects of hotel operations, both at corporate level, as well as operating his own business for more than 12 years. He has participated in many tourism related committees, influencing improvements to the industry. 
With extensive experience as a National Quality Assurance Assessor on behalf of 'Visit Britain', he is well placed to advise on customer focused service improvements. As a local government Tourism Advisor and Events and Training Co-ordinator, Colin successfully co-ordinated the delivery of the 'Welcome to Blackpool' product knowledge course to over 3000 delegates. 
Colin is able to deliver different aspects of 'Mystery Shopping' to suit individual specific needs to a high standard, both quickly and efficiently. 
With significant experience as a recognised Tour Guide, Colin is able to interpret a variety of products for the group market but specialises in guided tours of Blackpool - interpreting the unique history of the resort and that of the Illuminations. 
 

Dr Viv Cuthill

Specialism - Tourism Training and Sustainable Development

Viv Cuthill is a highly effective, professional trainer with many years’ experience in both commercial training for the tourism and hospitality sectors and in higher education. She has a Cert. Ed. (FE/HE), and an MSc in Tourism. Viv has considerable knowledge of training in the tourism sector, developed as a regional trainer for the tourist boards in North West England, and as an independent training consultant over the last 13 years. In recent years she has been involved with several projects to train, develop and support rural tourism businesses.

She was responsible for developing and successfully tailoring the 'Welcoming Walkers and Cyclists' sustainable tourism and marketing training package for rural businesses, in conjunction with the Rural Tourism Initiatives in Lancashire and Cheshire.

Viv was a manager / mentor on an innovative, award-winning induction and undergraduate work experience programme for Lancashire Rural Tourism Initiative / Lancashire County Developments Ltd, providing business and marketing support for rural tourism businesses.

Working in conjunction with the Tourism Team at the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Viv has developed a 'Bowland Welcome' training programme for tourism-related businesses. This programme is delivered as part of the Sustainable Tourism Strategy for the AONB, and covers area product knowledge, principles of sustainable tourism, sense of place and customer service.
